Obituary: June 21, 2003

 

A celebration of the life of Paul B. Boone will be held Monday at 11 am at The First Baptist Church of Columbia, Boyce Chapel, with burial in Woodridge Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Columbia International University Student Tuition Fund or to First Baptist Church Missions Fund. Visitation will be Sunday 4 - 7 pm at Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel, Irmo.

Mr. Boone died Friday, June 20, 2003. Born in Muncie, Indiana, he was the son of the late James J. and Ermal E. Boone. He was first employed by Allied Physics Corporation in Pasedena, Calif. as a supervisor in the production of electronic testing equiptment. In 1961, he moved to Columbia to attend Columbia International University. He was asked to join the staff as a Superintendant of Buildings and Grounds and directed the media ministry.

In 1971, Mr. Boone started Southern Services Co., an electrical contracting company, which served the midlands area for more than 30 years before his retirement and illness in 2002. He was treasurer and charter member of The Electrical Contractors Association of the Midlands.

Mr. Boone was a former deacon and Sunday School teacher. He had been a member of First Baptist Church of Columbia for many years. He always subscribed to a principle in life which says, "When it is in your power, do good to whom it is due." He was known for his kindness, his integrity, and his incredible sense of humor.

Surviving are his wife of 42 years,  six children and their spouses, a sister, and 19 grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brother, Michael R. Boggs.


Paul B. Boone and his wife of 42 years had 6 children:

Child 5 (living son)

Child 6 (living daughter)

Along with:

21 grand-children & 2 great grand-children to carry on his great name.
